I recently had the awesome opportunity to DJ for Hotworx South Tampa’s 5th birthday celebration! It was such a unique and fun event – here are some behind-the-scenes moments and a thought or two about how much we love doing intimate events!

Creating The Vibe Without Limits

When the Hotworx team first reached out, they didn’t have many specific requests — just asked for a few Taylor Swift and Chappell Roan songs, and a general vibe they were aiming for. I love that kind of creative freedom, so I did a bit of research on their business and got to work crafting the perfect playlist. I went for a mix of neo-synth pop and throwback 2000s sounds to create a bright, refreshing, and feel-good atmosphere. Think upbeat modern tracks that make you want to move, with some nostalgic hits sprinkled in for good measure.

A Chilly Outdoor Market

The birthday bash was set up as a mini outdoor market, complete with three local vendors and free cold plunge ice baths. Yes, you read that right — ice baths! After a good workout inside, patrons would come out to take a refreshing dunk and browse the vendor booths.

The participants were set up right in front of my booth, so I definitely got some entertainment out of it (LOL). It was actually a cool experience for me, because I saw lots of people singing or dancing in their ice baths to get through the initial discomfort.

I offer an array of sound equipment that I choose based on the size, location, and purpose of an event. I set up my portable DJ booth under a pop-up tent in the grass with two PA speakers, which was plenty of sound.

The Hotworx owners even took the mic to share a few words about their anniversary, followed by a ceremonial toast and lots of dancing. It was a really sweet moment on their special day.

Tampa DJ For Intimate Events

Unexpectedly, the staff confessed they almost didn’t reach out for DJ services because they thought their event might be too small. To anyone reading this: no event is too small or simple! I specialize in intimate to midsize gatherings, and a DJ can really elevate your event from good to great. We work with all types of clients and budgets.
