When Dark Mark Ink reached out to me about DJing outside their shop for the event, I was super excited. For those who don’t know, Friday the 13th is a big deal for tattoo enthusiasts, with people lining up for hours to get discounted flash tattoos. But Dark Mark Ink had the brilliant idea to elevate the waiting experience by providing entertainment, vendors, and activities.
Queer DJ In Tampa Bay
Dark Mark is an incredible queer woman-owned tattoo shop, which made the event even more special for me. As a nonbinary artist, its really fulfilling when I get to work with other queer people because they often aren’t understood by big event service companies, meaning that their individuality isn’t captured in the music. I was so happy they reached out to me and it was a great experience.
Capturing The Magical Misfit Vibe
When Dark Mark Ink reached out to me about DJing outside their shop for the event, I was super excited. For those who don’t know, Friday the 13th is a big deal for tattoo enthusiasts, with people lining up for hours to get discounted flash tattoos. But Dark Mark Ink had the brilliant idea to elevate the waiting experience by providing live entertainment.
They didn’t have many specific music requests, but they did ask for some Harry Potter and Stranger Things tunes to match their shop’s theme. I loved the challenge and dove into finding remixes and tracks that captured the magical and mysterious vibes of both franchises. Blending these iconic sounds into a cohesive playlist was a blast, and it set the perfect tone for the event.
Picture The Event
The event itself was like a mini-festival, complete with vendors, food trucks, and games for everyone to enjoy while waiting for their tattoos. I set up my mobile DJ booth under the shop’s awning with PA speakers, ensuring the sound was perfect for the outdoor space. The music created an energetic and engaging environment, making the wait just as exciting as getting a tattoo.
More Than Just Business
I kept the masses’ spirits high by using the requested Harry Potter and Stranger Things remixes plus lots of alternative upbeat tracks that matched the punk vibe of Friday the 13th. The owners were incredibly sweet and shared how much they loved the element that my DJing added.
Plus, the event went so well that I’ve now established a long-term professional relationship with Dark Mark Ink and have been invited back for future events. How awesome is that? One of the best parts of heaven! is those genuine connections that I get to build with clients.
A Big Thank You
Thanks a ton to Dark Mark Ink for the opportunity to be part of your Friday the 13th event. Can’t wait to come back!
