Dyke Nite St. Pete is a really cool grassroots org that creates safe and inclusive nightlife events for sapphic people, and it’s always a blast being part of their scene.
This event’s theme was “Quenched,” an end-of-summer bash with major aquatic, wet, and tropical vibes. Think sexy summer paradise. Of course, I came dressed in a wet summer look! I always try my best to match my appearance with the vibe of any event.
Riding the “Quenched” Wave
As the opening DJ, I set the mood with some hard-hitting and sultry dance bangers from artists like Tyla, Tinashe, and Doechii. After my set, I handed things over to three other local queer DJs. Sharing the floor with such talented folks is always inspiring.
I provided all the sound gear for myself and the other performers, including my mobile DJ booth, controller, and speakers. For Dyke Nite, I use two large speakers with 12″ subs at 1200 watts. The venue has a large, high, metal ceiling that creates an echo when many people are speaking, so the space requires lots of bass and volume to be well-heard when 100+ people are talking and dancing.
Sound Solutions Beyond DJing
I wasn’t done after my set, though; during Dyke Nite, I was on standby the entire night to provide tech support for the other performers and quickly handled any issues that came up.
I’ve been providing sound solutions for Dyke Nite every month, whether I’m spinning or not. It’s an awesome partnership, and I love being part of such a vibrant and supportive community. Dyke Nite St. Pete’s commitment to creating fun and safe spaces for sapphic people is truly dope, and I’m proud to support their mission.
Can’t Wait for the Next Dyke Nite
Huge shoutout to Dyke Nite St. Pete for another incredible event. I’m already hyped for the next one and can’t wait to see what theme they come up with next! 🎉
